About

WHO AM I?

"What do you do for a living?" I long hesitated when asked this question. I found a single label too limiting, as if I were defined solely by my career as an engineer or, more recently, an artist. But I am also the mother of two beautiful young adults, a cat lover (especially my own), chicken keeper, author, consultant and speaker. I am a lover of life, nature and wood, a chainsaw and tractor enthusiast, and I have a passion for knowing and revealing myself in an aligned expression. To this question, then, I now answer: "I am... Authentic". This is what I aspire to be every day, far from the traps set by the ego. I am me, and that means I'm interested in many things and skills that I choose to add, develop and drop as the flow takes me. I let my explorations guide me and I follow them, fascinated by every new aspect of myself I discover along the way.

I left Montreal and its suburbs a few years ago to settle in a small corner of forest in Roxton Pond, near Granby, Quebec, Canada. Every day, I feel deep gratitude for this oasis of peace and for the coyotes, turtles, skunks, hares, raccoons, lynxes, otters, foxes, bees, butterflies, and birds of all kinds that cohabit with me. This new life in the countryside has been a profound turning point in my life; I set up my workshop and reconnected with my creativity. It has confronted me, allowing me to know myself more and more with each challenge faced, each fear conquered, each hesitation transcended.

POURQUOI L' »ART CONSCIENT »?

All the art forms I use and every piece I create are an intrinsic part of who I am. I have always been a jack-of-all-trades, an explorer of both the virtual and the tangible. My work reflects these explorations, reflections and interests. Moreover, I create in full awareness, infusing everything with the energy of the moment. It is essential to me that my work carries a strong and coherent message and that it vibrates with inspiration!

WOODTURNING

My love affair with wood is not new, but it has deepened since I’ve been immersed in nature, surrounded by trees. Handling this material, relying on it for warmth, learning to cut and saw it, I felt pulled to sculpt it to highlight its beauty. Woodturning was my first endeavor, and I was fortunate to be trained by André Martel, a renowned Quebec master woodturner. With this solid technical foundation, I then wanted to explore textures, colors, and everything that could further enhance the wood. In 2023, a workshop with Christophe Nancey in Burgundy allowed me to gain further understanding of how to reach perfect form, elegantly join lines and curves, express movement, all the while maintaining a natural and organic appearance that suits wood so well.

I mainly work with green wood, responsibly harvested from local forests (including my own). I welcome and highlight deformations and cracks. It is my way to co-create with the piece of wood.

SCULPTURE

Sculpture naturally has a freer form. Initially, I used it to break the symmetry of my turned pieces. Eventually, I wanted to sculpt the material without it first passing through the lathe. I find it inspiring to extract meaning from it freely, always in a spirit of dialogue and co-creation with the piece of wood. From my perspective, a sculpture must carry a strong message to deserve its place in a space; it must evoke an emotion, initiate reflection, inspire or touch...

LASER ART

I am inspired by spiritual art, mandalas and multi-layer laser cut pieces. This led me to start conceiving laser-engraved/laser-cut pieces. The gray area between disciplines is my favourite creative space! I incorporate laser-use on my hand-turned/-sculpted pieces as well. I find interesting the marriage between the organic feel of a hand-made object with the synthetic perfection of a machine-made expression.

Every day, whether we are aware of it or not, we are engaged in the cocreation of our universe. Our imagination bridges our inner and outer worlds, our conscious and unconscious selves.
